A Note From Our CXO: A Closer Look at…

Dear Explorer,
An important part of my role as Chief Expedition Officer is shaping the way National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions explores the world. After 33 years with the company—first as an expedition leader and now overseeing expedition operations across the fleet—I know that an extraordinary voyage begins with an extraordinary ship.
That is exactly why we chose to charter the Greg Mortimerfor our newest voyages in Alaska and Central America. The expedition experience pairs our unique style of exploration with the comfort, amenities and contemporary design you’ve come to expect from the fleet. You’ll travel with an exceptional 8:1 guest-to-staff ratio and the same caliber of expedition teams that have long distinguished National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions. And while some of you may have sailed the Americas with us aboard smaller ships, Greg Mortimer carries that same spirit of exploration forward in compelling new ways.
In spring of 2027, the ship will host the 13-day Panama and Costa Rica’s Pacific Coast: A Central America Odyssey—the most comprehensive expedition in the region, covering an extraordinary intersection of biodiversity and coastal wilderness, from the coral reefs of Coiba National Park to the remote rainforests of Darién and Corcovado.
Later that year, she sails north for Epic Alaska and British Columbia, a 15-day voyage showcasing the remarkable breadth of this wild frontier, including a rare stop in Prince Rupert, British Columbia, which adds a unique cultural dimension to our voyages in the region. Guests will explore remote wilderness by Zodiac and kayak, hike through temperate rainforest and experience the immense scale of the Hubbard Glacier—one of North America’s most spectacular tidewater glaciers.
Greg Mortimer is particularly well suited for these longer expeditions, which blend active exploration with extra time spent connecting aboard the ship. Four dedicated Zodiac platforms allow guests to disembark quickly, maximizing time spent ashore, while spacious observation areas, outdoor hot tubs, a panoramic sauna and unique onboard enrichment opportunities make it especially rewarding to settle into the journey. Expedition teams will include veteran naturalists, cultural specialists and certified photo instructors—with two CPIs aboard Alaska voyages—whose expertise has long been central to the National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions experience.
At its heart, Greg Mortimer represents a new way for us to deliver the kind of immersive exploration that has always defined National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions. I hope you’ll join us aboard and experience these remarkable voyages for yourself.
Sincerely,
Trey Byus
