“There are 65 million American adults and 6 million American children who are currently on psychiatric drugs, and there are zero off-ramps for getting them off these drugs safely within the mental health industry—zero,” says Laura Delano, founder of Inner Compass Initiative, a nonprofit organization that helps people make informed choices about psychiatric drugs.

Self-described as a former ‘professional mental patient,’ she tells her 14-year relationship to the mental health industry.
