Four New Trustees Elected to Heritage Foundation Board

Leadership for the future: The Heritage Foundation is excited to announce the election of four new trustees: president and CEO of Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Lawrence (Larry) Blanford; internationally recognized author and political philosopher, Yoram Hazony, Ph.D.; editor of The Federalist and widely respected political commentator, Mollie Hemingway; and chairman and founder of The Huizenga Group, J.C. Huizenga.
- “These new trustees bring the conviction, experience, and strategic vision necessary to help guide Heritage through one of the most consequential moments in modern American history,” said Barb Van Andel-Gaby, chair of the Board of Trustees.

Why Are Young Men Returning to Religion?

Positive shift: Last week, Dr. Albert Mohler, president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, joined Heritage to discuss the substantial increase in young men turning to religion.
- Referencing a recent Gallup poll, Mohler said: “Just in terms of those who say religion is very important to their lives, it was 29 percent for young women and 42 percent for young men. Something remarkable is happening there.”

Tariffs Are Hurting American Manufacturing

Tariff trouble: Tariffs meant to protect U.S. manufacturers are instead driving up costs, distorting supply chains, and putting American automakers at a disadvantage.
- Many vehicles made in North America in compliance with the United States– Mexico–Canada Agreement “now face higher effective tariff rates than those made entirely overseas with all foreign parts,” writes EJ Antoni, senior economist at Heritage.

Billions saved: Since the Trump administration announced its DOGE efforts in early 2025, the results have been astounding, even inspiring state-level initiatives.
- “As of Jan. 1, 2026, the Department of Government Efficiency reports $215 billion in savings, or roughly $1,335 per taxpayer,” write Senior Research Associate Nicole Huyer and YLP member Christopher Lynch.
