Donald Osborne & Lorenzo Ardizio — Italian Roots at…
Donald Osborne Named Special Guest at HF44
“For me, the icing on the cake of this weekend is being back at Lime Rock Park, where I first learned to drive a car on a track at a Skip Barber session and spent many days here as a member of the VSCCA, as a corner worker, in race control and behind the wheel in a race car. Lime Rock is very much my ‘home track’”
We’re proud to welcome Donald Osborne, ASA, as a Special Guest at Historic Festival 44 this Labor Day Weekend.
An automotive expert, appraiser, and one of the most engaging voices in the collector car world, Donald has built a career around helping people understand not just what cars are—but why they matter.
His lifelong passion for Alfa Romeo makes his presence especially fitting as we celebrate the marque at HF44. From discovering Alfa as a kid at the New York Auto Show to a deep appreciation for Italian design, it’s a connection that runs through everything he does.
Many will also recognize Donald from his work alongside Jay Leno, where his knowledge and storytelling have brought great automotive history to a wider audience.Read the Full Story — La Storia
Donald Osborne in his 1950 Crosley Gardiner Special at HF22 in 2005—a fitting nod to Crosley’s unlikely competition history, including a nearly stock Crosley Hotshot that went on to a class win the inaugural six-hour endurance race at Sebring International Raceway in 1950.Get Tickets To Historic Festival 44 Here
Lorenzo Ardizio Brings Alfa Romeo’s Story to HF44
At the heart of every great marque is a story worth preserving. For Alfa Romeo, that story begins on June 24, 1910, when A.L.F.A. (Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili) was officially formed—with racing at its core from the very start. Just thirteen years later, the brand claimed its first great international victory at the Targa Florio, where Ugo Sivocci drove the RL to victory, carrying a four-leaf clover on its bonnet—a symbol that would become legend.
That spirit—competition, beauty, and speed—still defines Alfa Romeo today, and it’s the story that Lorenzo Ardizio has dedicated his career to preserving. As curator of the Museo Storico Alfa Romeo and head of Alfa Romeo’s archive, Lorenzo oversees one of the most important collections in automotive history. Located in Arese, the museum brings together more than a century of innovation and design, with six floors that connect past, present, and future through cars, technology, and storytelling—less a static display than a living record of a brand that has shaped motorsport and design for over 100 years.
“In 2014, when Alfa Romeo decided to refurbish and rebuild the museum, I was asked by Sergio Marchionne to curate the project, oversee the restoration, and develop the new exhibitions,” Lorenzo recalls. Today, that collection carries a distinction few automotive archives can claim. Since 2011, it has been protected by the Italian government in the same way as the country’s great works of art and historic monuments. “To know that the same authorities that oversee the museums in Florence are now involved in our archive is a genuinely special feeling.”
This year, as we celebrate Alfa Romeo as the Featured Marque of Historic Festival 44, Lorenzo will join us at Lime Rock Park as a special guest—bringing with him a rare perspective on the history, the cars, and the enduring identity of the brand. The tradition belongs to this place. And this year, it speaks with an Italian accent.Get Tickets To Historic Festival 44 Here
