We’re floored. According to our recent audience survey, 71% of you said that you dined out at a new restaurant thanks to Phoenix New Times’ journalism.That’s a huge honor for us because it means we’re doing what local newsrooms were made for: getting people out of their homes and into the community, meeting their neighbors and relishing what makes Phoenix, Phoenix.

Just recently, we got in the kitchen with chef Yotaka “Sunny” Martin. She taught us how to make curry paste, gave some insight into her travels throughout Thailand and shared plans for her new summer menu. Just a few days later, the Lom Wong chef and co-owner was recognized on a national stage as she won a James Beard Award.

We also took you inside The Joy Bus Diner’s recent move. The restaurant and nonprofit organization works with passionate volunteers to deliver meals to those battling cancer. With the new, larger space, the organization will be able to provide more food to those in need.

At the end of the day, it’s not just about helping you decide where to eat this weekend. Covering restaurants means telling the unique story of Phoenix, its people, and the many cultures and cuisines that converge here. No one does that better than Phoenix New Times.
