Competitor Registration Underway — Historic Festival 44
Competitors —
Historic Festival 44 is shaping up to be our best year yet, and as we get closer, you’ll receive more updates covering entry, the program, and the weekend schedule.
Registration for Competitors is open on MotorsportsReg. Please submit your entry, and we’ll review it promptly. You’ll receive an official acceptance by email once approved, and your credit card will not be charged until that point. If you have questions while your entry is being reviewed, feel free to email us at historics@limerock.com.
If you want your preferred paddock location, I recommend registering now—we expect a full paddock, and late entries will be placed where space allows.
WHAT’S ON TRACK
Alfa Romeo is the Featured Marque, with an all-Alfa run group, a dedicated Alfa tent, and a strong presence in the paddock and in the Sunday Concours.
Revs Institute is bringing a selection of Alfa Romeos, along with cars from the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) era—cars that connect directly to the early days of American road racing and helped lay the foundation for the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA).
The ARCA group already includes more than 15 pre-war racing cars and is expected to grow. It’s unusual to see this many in one place. If you or someone you know has a car from that era, have them contact us here.
Historic Trans-Am returns after a four-year absence, with more than 20 original cars once driven by Posey, Folmer, Gurney, and Donohue being represented. Lime Rock Park is one of Trans-Am’s true battlegrounds—every time the series came here, something happened. FOX broadcaster Mike Joy and his son Scott plan to compete.
Historic World Challenge continues to grow. If you have a car or know someone who does, have them contact us here.
Formula Junior entries are coming from Europe and Australia in large numbers. We may need to split the group into front- and rear-engine fields.
OUR SPECIAL GUESTS
Miles Collier and The Revs Institute
Miles Collier, founder of the Revs Institute, will return to Lime Rock Park as an Honored Guest of Historic Festival 44. Scott George, Chief Curator, will join him, as Revs brings a significant group of historic cars—some on display, others racing—back to Lime Rock. This will be a featured display in the paddock.
Tommy Kendall, David Hobbs, and Dorsey Schroeder
Four-time Trans-Am Series Champion Tommy Kendall returns to Lime Rock Park as a Special Guest for Historic Festival 44, joined by his All-Sport Roush Mustang—the car that defined his 1997 Trans-Am championship season, which included 11 victories. David Hobbs will also be with us; he won the Trans-Am title in 1983 with four wins and three second-place finishes. Our own Director of Competition, Dorsey Schroeder, will be part of the program as well—Dorsey won the Trans-Am Championship in 1989.
Donald Osborne
We will also welcome Donald Osborne as a Special Guest. An automotive expert and appraiser, he is one of the most engaging voices in the collector car world. His lifelong connection to Alfa Romeo makes his presence particularly appropriate this year. He is also a classically trained opera singer, with a degree from the Hartt College of Music in West Hartford, and has performed with the New York Philharmonic and the Metropolitan Opera. He will perform the National Anthem at Historic Festival 44.
Lorenzo Ardizio
Making the trip from Italy, Lorenzo Ardizio, Chief Curator of the Museo Storico in Milan, will join our Alfa Romeo program. He is a journalist, automobile historian, and a leading authority on Alfa Romeo. He currently teaches car design in Milan.
Derek Drinkwater
Derek Drinkwater will return with his recreation of Cunningham’s 1950 Le Mans
“Le Monstre” Cadillac.
THE WEEKEND
Thursday — Parade
The Parade is our opening event. A field of 125 cars will run a 17-mile route through the countryside, finishing in Falls Village. More than 300 cars apply. As a competitor, you have first priority. Parade entry is included in your race application. Public entries open June 1.
Friday – Practice and qualifying.
You’ll receive two complimentary tickets to the Competitors’ Dinner, held in the hospitality tent on the grounds and focused on Historic Trans-Am. Mike Joy will host, joined by three Trans-Am Champions—Tommy Kendall, David Hobbs, and Dorsey Schroeder.
Saturday – Racing.
Plans for Saturday evening’s dinner are underway. Miles Collier, Lorenzo Ardizio, and Santo Spadaro will lead the discussion, with Donald Osborne moderating. Together, they bring deep knowledge of Alfa Romeo, the ARCA era, and the early years of American road racing. Details on location, start time, menu, and pricing will follow.
Sunday in the Park — the largest Concours in the Northeast, and the only one held on the circuit as part of a historic race weekend. The show takes place on the Sam Posey Straight, with Alfa Romeo featured among a strong field of rare and significant automobiles.
If you own a historic Alfa Romeo—or a car worthy of inclusion—you can find a full list of Concours classes and apply here.
Monday – Racing.
DRIVERS LOUNGE
The Delamar Drivers Lounge will be open Friday, Saturday, and Monday from 7:00 amthrough the end of racing. A Barista will be serving fresh-brewed coffee, cappuccino, and espresso from 7:00–11:00 am, along with light food, Wi-Fi, timing and scoring, and a place to meet between sessions.
