Peter: Earlier this week, a federal judge ruled that millions of dollars in mental health grants for schools must be restored.

Tuesday’s ruling in Washington state, ordering the U.S. Department of Education to release millions of dollars of mental health grant funding, marks a big win for millions of students and families across the United States.

In June, the U.S. Department of Education inappropriately terminated hundreds of millions of dollars in grants to fund school mental health professionals. On Tuesday, a federal judge REVERSED that decision.

This critical win would not have been possible without the efforts of 16 State Attorney Generals who sued to secure the release of these funds to help ensure that programs to train new professionals and to increase mental health resources in schools can continue.

Inseparable was proud to advocate for the original inclusion of this school mental health funding in the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act.

We have seen firsthand how life-changing school-based mental health services are for providing affordable and accessible mental health care, but this work is far from over. We are facing a mental health crisis across the United States, and Inseparable will continue our work to protect and expand access to mental health care for all Americans; we’re in this fight for the long haul.
