Here are just some of the events on this date in the past.

•	On this day in 1921: The first live broadcast of a sporting event aired on radio from KDKA in Pittsburgh. It was a broadcast of a boxing match between Johnny Ray and Johnny Dundee.
•	In 1968: President Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1968, which prohibited discrimination based on race, sex, religion and national origin in the sale, renting and financing of housing.
•	In 1970: Apollo 13 successfully launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida, with astronauts James A. Lovell, John L. Swigert and Fred W. Haise. Originally planned to land on the Moon, it later became a rescue mission to save the crew when an oxygen tank exploded en route.
•	In 1976: Apple Computer Co. debuted the Apple I. Designed by Steve Wozniak, it was an 8-bit personal computer with a video display connection and a keyboard interface centralized into one motherboard. It went on sale July 1976 and was discontinued on September 30, 1977, after the introduction of the Apple II.
•	In 2012: George Zimmerman was arrested and charged with second degree murder in the killing of Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch coordinator, shot and killed Martin on the evening of Feb. 26, 2012. He was later acquitted by a jury.
•	In 2015: President Barack Obama and Cuban President Raúl Castro shook hands in Panama. For the first time in over five decades, the heads of the two nations met to discuss opening diplomatic relations.
