On this day in 1921: The first live broadcast of a sporting event aired on radio from KDKA in Pittsburgh. It was a broadcast of a boxing match between Johnny Ray and Johnny Dundee. |

In 1968: President Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1968, which prohibited discrimination based on race, sex, religion and national origin in the sale, renting and financing of housing. |
