The longest recorded hiccuping episode in history lasted 68 years. Charles Osborne of Iowa began hiccuping in 1922 after an incident while slaughtering a hog, and did not stop until 1990 — hiccuping an estimated 430 million times. He reportedly led a near-normal life throughout, married twice, and fathered eight children.
