Texas Dad Unknowingly Ubers The MarĂasâand Totally Stuns His Daughter
For Texas dad Jesus Echeverria, it was just another Uber shiftâuntil a pickup turned into a dream scenario for his daughter Abigail. On July 11, Jesus unknowingly gave a ride to Grammy-nominated alt-pop band The MarĂas.
During the 10-minute drive, the group casually chatted about boutique shopping and planning a birthday surpriseânothing that gave away their fame. But Jesusâs first clue came when guitarist Jesse Perlman mentioned lending his 16-string guitar to Finneas OâConnell to record Billie Eilishâs Birds of a Feather. âI was tempted to ask something,â Jesus later said, âbut I didnât say it.â
Abigail, a longtime fan, couldnât believe it when her dad called her after the ride. âI was in tears⊠what are the odds of that happening to my dad?â she said. Wanting to preserve the moment, Abigail filmed her father retelling the story and shared it on TikTok. The post blew up with over 900,000 likes as fans celebrated the wholesome dad-daughter moment.
The story got even sweeter when The MarĂas themselves commented: âWish I was there to meet you!!!â They later DMâd Abigail: âYour dad is a legend BTW. He reminds me so much of my dad.â
Fans across TikTok are praising the bandâs down-to-earth vibe and Abigailâs heartwarming video. And as for Jesus? âThey definitely won over a new fan,â he said.

Before he became a rock god, Jimi Hendrix was a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Divisionâbut his commanding officers werenât exactly fans of his rhythm.
In 1962, Hendrix was honorably discharged for âunsuitability,â after a year marked by poor discipline and an obsession with his guitar. According to this article âhe continued playing guitar while off duty, which didnât endear him with the other men in the barracks, who just wanted a good nightâs sleep.â One officer even noted, âhis mind apparently cannot function while performing duties and thinking about his guitar.â Ultimately, Capt. Gilbert Batchman recommended discharge, saying Hendrixâs issues werenât treatable by âhospitalization or counseling.â The Armyâs loss became rockâs gainâjust four years later, Hendrix set his Stratocaster (and the world) on fire at Monterey. đž
