Electric vehicle leet charging station plan in Tempe jolts residents(tempenews.com) β Neighbors in mid-town Tempe are gearing up for a Feb. 20 Board of Adjustment hearing over a proposed private EV fleet charging station at Broadway and Terrace. Residents worry about 24/7 traffic, noise, and safety near schools, while the developer argues the facility will be quiet, buffered by walls and landscaping, and limited to contracted autonomous vehicles. 2. Multi-vehicle crash involving Waymo cars shuts down Baseline Road in Tempe (abc15.com) β A serious multi-vehicle crash involving two empty Waymo cars has shut down all lanes of Baseline Road between Priest and Darrow in Tempe while police investigate. Officers say a driver ran a red light, triggering the chain-reaction collision, and closures are expected for several more hours, so residents should avoid the area and use alternate routes. 3. ASU president frames democracy and higher education as ‘unfinished work’ in forward-looking address (asu.edu) β ASU President Michael Crow used a packed event at ASU Gammage on the Tempe campus to argue that American democracy and higher education remain “unfinished work” that demand broader access and community partnership. He highlighted ASU’s growth in Arizona resident enrollment, online degrees, and research spending, while urging Tempe-area supporters to back the Changing Futures campaign. The talk framed ASU as a local institution with global ambitions. 4. 2 Arizona cities rank among top 10 most popular places to move in 2026 (azfamily.com) β Tempe is projected to be the #6 most popular U.S. city to move to in 2026, with about 1.33 newcomers for every resident leaving. The report highlights Tempe‘s ASU-fueled college-town energy and compares it with other mid-sized, university-centered Sunbelt cities that are drawing strong inbound interest despite cooling in some big metros like Phoenix and Austin. πΈ Around TempeShow off your photography skills and the sights around town!
