Your Night Prayer
| Today’s Night Prayer is brought to you by Rosary.comA Night PrayerJesus Christ, my God, I adore You and thank You for all the graces You have given me this day. I offer You my sleep and all the moments of this night. I place myself and all my loved ones, wherever they may be, in Your sacred side and under the mantle of Our Blessed Mother. Let Your holy angels stand watch and keep us in peace. Amen.Quote of the Day“Stand fast, therefore, in this conduct and follow the example of the Lord, firm and unchangeable in faith, lovers of the brotherhood, loving each other, united in truth, helping each other with the mildness of the Lord, despising no man.” -St. Polycarp Today’s Meditation”In the biblical account, we see the power of God manifested through the simple mantle of Elijah. The living God used the plain clothing of the great prophet to display His strength and goodness. In a similar way, God blesses us through the Brown Scapular, which is an unembellished piece of cloth. God uses the scapular to bless and protect us. It was given to us by the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is a spiritual mantle of Elijah, it is the garment of the prophetic office. The scapular is a gift from God, a means by which we also receive a “double share” of Elijah’s spirit. Do I see the scapular as a gift from God, rather than as a piece of jewelry or a misplaced superstitious practice? Similar to Elijah’s mantle, do I understand the power of God that works through the scapular?” —A Journey to Mount Carmel, Fr. It’s very simple, and it’s designed to help us identify our sins and weaknesses so that we can improve and grow stronger in the spiritual life, while providing an excellent ongoing preparation for regular Confession. It consists of taking a few minutes at the end of the day to prayerfully review our actions in the light of God’s commandments, followed by the Act of Contrition. |
