Your Night Prayer
| Today’s Night Prayer is brought to you by St. Paul CenterA Night PrayerJesus Christ, my God, I adore You and thank You for all the graces You have given me this day. I offer You my sleep and all the moments of this night. I place myself and all my loved ones, wherever they may be, in Your sacred side and under the mantle of Our Blessed Mother. Let Your holy angels stand watch and keep us in peace. Amen.Quote of the Day“This time of Advent is a time for hope. These great horizons of our Christian vocation, this unity of life built on the presence of God our Father, can and ought to be a daily reality. Ask our Lady, along with me, to make it come true. Try to imagine how she spent these months, waiting for her Son to be born. And our Lady, Holy Mary, will make of you alter Christus, ipse Christus: another Christ, Christ himself!” -St. Josemaria Escriva Today’s MeditationAlthough many Catholics know that Advent is a preparation for Christmas, very few are aware that it’s also a preparation for Christ’s return at the end of time. For more than 1,500 years, Advent has always focused on these two elements: the birth of Christ, and His Second Coming…Sacred Scripture promised us that our Messiah would one day be born into the world—and also promised us that He would one day return. Just as the faithful of ages past awaited Christ’s birth and the beginning of our salvation, we, too—the faithful of this age—await His return and the culmination of our redemption. It’s very simple, and it’s designed to help us identify our sins and weaknesses so that we can improve and grow stronger in the spiritual life. Basically, it consists in taking a few minutes at the end of the day to prayerfully review our actions in the light of God’s commandments. The Act of Contrition is often said afterwards. The daily examination also serves as an excellent ongoing preparation for regular Confession. |
