For years, we called them our Monthly Meetings, which we found not very descriptive. Then, we tried out Community Wellness Education events, but that was a mouthful.
We are excited to introduce NAMI Talks. Every month, we will bring mental health and wellness topics that are important to YOU. We’ll bring experts, lived experience, and educational presentations to you, online and in-person. We expect to start series of NAMI Talks, focused on providing important skills such as helping your relationships with children, being a caregiver, managing employees, and more.
NAMI Talks, and we hope you will listen, learn, and engage.

Supporting People with Eating Disorders
NAMI NoVA is proud to support Eating Disorders Acceptance Week, Monday, February 23, to Sunday, March 1, 2026. This week is geared to educating the public about the realities of eating disorders, challenging harmful stereotypes, and providing hope to those affected.
Join us on online, Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 6:30 PM as we host a discussion on Supporting People with Eating Disorders. Hear from a young adult peer who has struggled with an eating disorder co-occurring with their mental illness, and from Christie Dondero Bettwy of Rock Recovery, our partner focused on support and education for people with eating disorders.

Congratulations to our NAMI Next Gen Advisor, Maddie Rose
NAMI Northern Virginia congratulates our wonderful volunteer, Madison “Maddie” Rose. Maddie was named to the 10-member national advisory group, NAMI Next Gen. Maddie, aged 24, currently works as a Proposal Development Analyst in addition to coaching spin classes. Her lived experience battling mental health issues as a young adult led her to discover her passion for advocacy.
NAMI Next Gen Advisors are tasked with creating and innovating new ideas to guide NAMI’s work with young people in addressing the youth mental health crisis. The year-long cohort offers thoughts, opinions, and feedback to inform the work of NAMI programs, content, and initiatives to meet young people where they are.
For Maddie, it’s personal. She is committed to fostering a welcoming, open, and honest conversation around mental health to destigmatize the reality of living with a mental illness. In college, she focused her senior capstone project on anxiety in young adults, the effects it can have on student performance, and what helps students combat these problems. Maddie’s hope is that opening up about her story will help others feel seen, heard, and less alone in their own struggles.
Join us in congratulating Maddie. We are so proud of you!
