Rebbetzin Kolodetzki said that donating $298 (numerical value of רחמים) will bring measure-for-measure reward, with Hashem’s mercy granting a good year, health, livelihood, shidduchim, and happiness. In these days of judgment, approaching the yamim noraim, everyone wants Hashem to have mercy on them and their families.
Therefore, the Rebbetzin promised:“I will make sure my husband, about whom my father said, “He is the Chofetz Chaim of our generation” and who’s brachos are accepted in Heaven, will bless all who contribute $298 (numerical value of רחמים) and that their names will be on his shtender at the close of Yom Kippur during Ne’ilah when the tzaddik stands right before Hashem’s holy throne of mercy. Additionally, he will daven for the donors on the kevarim of Rav Chaim Kanievsky, the Steipler, and the Chazon Ish during the Aseres Yemi Teshuva, and also on motzai Yom Kippur, at the time of Ne’ilah in the United States.”
