Hurricane Helene is rapidly intensifying as it takes aim at Florida’s Gulf Coast, where it will batter communities with destructive winds up to 125 mph, heavy rains and a life-threatening storm surge that could reach up to 20 feet. The biggest impacts will be felt to the east of the eye which includes almost all of Florida.

Americares is responding; we have received a request for assistance and are in communication with almost 200 partners throughout the region as they prepare for impacts to clinics and health services due to this severe storm. We are deploying a team, expected to arrive this weekend, to begin working with partners on the ground. They will immediately set to work conducting needs assessments in the hardest hit areas to ensure health care access for survivors.
