Urgent: Help Save Public Radio Funding — Take Action Today!
Dear fellow public radio supporter,
Public radio is one of the most trusted sources of news, education, and emergency information in our community — and right now, it’s at risk.
Congress is considering a rescission of federal funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), which could gravely impact your local public radio stations, KJZZ and KBACH. We need your voice to help protect the essential services we provide to Arizona.
As General Manager of KJZZ and KBACH, I see every day how critical federal funding is to what we do. Local news from our state capitol and across the region, music and arts education highlighting all of the cultural resources the state offers, and a 24/7 resource for accurate and timely information during emergencies.
Without this vital support, our capacity to provide local news, educational programming, cultural content, and emergency alerts would be significantly reduced.
Congress established a two-year advance appropriation for CPB funding to ensure the editorial independence and stability of public broadcasting. For over 50 years, this bipartisan commitment has allowed local stations like ours to thrive, reaching 99% of Americans.
Now is the time to act.
We urge you to call or write your elected officials and tell them:
Oppose any rescission of public media funding.
Protect the Corporation for Public Broadcasting’s budget.
Preserve local public radio for the good of our community.
Your voice matters. Lawmakers need to hear directly from you — their constituents —about how much you value KJZZ / KBACH and the essential service we provide.
Thank you for standing with us. Together, we can ensure public radio continues to inform, educate, and protect our community for generations to come.
Cordially,
Jon Hoban
Vice President/General Manager
KJZZ/KBACH
