This afternoon, Turning Point USA founder and friend of Upward News, Charlie Kirk, was shot during a campus event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.

Video from the scene shows Kirk being fired upon during a Q&A with students, with some witnesses reporting he was hit near the neck.

An alert sent by UVU confirmed: “A single shot was fired on campus toward a visiting speaker. Police are investigating now, suspect in custody.” The campus is currently on lockdown.

Kirk was the only person shot, according to university officials. He was escorted off campus with his security team shortly after the incident.

Videos of the incident are circulating, and from what has been shared, the chances of survival appear very low, though we continue to hold out hope.
