The UN Tourism Organization has named Kibbutz Neot Semadar, a small desert community in Israel’s southern Arava region, one of the world’s best tourism villages for 2025.

Known for its stunning hand-built Art Center, organic winery, and eco-friendly guesthouses, Neot Semadar blends sustainability, creativity, and desert beauty into a one-of-a-kind travel experience.

The kibbutz’s 260 residents spent 15 years crafting the architectural landmark by hand, earning global praise as a model of living in harmony with nature and art.

Newsmax Israel correspondent Jodie Cohen spoke with designer Merav Yohanan, who’s blending faith and fashion on Rabbi Akiva Street.

“According to Jewish tradition, women should walk in a modest way so as not to attract too much attention,” she explained. “But it doesn’t have to be either or — you can combine the two together.”

Yohanan’s long, elegant evening gowns with high necklines and covered sleeves give women “a fashionable solution to a religious requirement,” she said.
