Pinal County residents are making their voices heard, whether it’s about a new copper mine, the sale of city land or state roadway improvements.

In the Superior area, local tribal communities have won a fight to get the federal government to take a second look at the environmental impacts of a new copper mine. The U.S. Bureau of Land Management has found that the environmental review of Resolution Copper’s proposed mine near Oak Flat was deficient.

Meanwhile, Maricopa residents had a chance to voice their concerns about local traffic and dangerous intersections on state roads to the Arizona State Transportation Board. City officials also updated the public on a ballot issue that would recreate a county sales tax that would support road repairs and construction.

And some Casa Grande residents and council members objected to the approval of the sale of 120 acres of city land to a developer. Read more about what the developer has planned for the parcel.
