Today, exactly 250 years ago, George Washington assumed command of the main American army in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
To honor this momentous occasion in American history 250 years ago, we are raising $25,000 to preserve and protect General Washington’s cherished home.
When you give $50 or more, you will be entered for a chance to win one of three of Commander-in-Chief flags that will fly at Mount Vernon tomorrow, July 4.
Mount Vernon is a special place to celebrate our nation’s Independence. We hope you can join us for An American Celebration, which includes a full day of events on July 4, including:
Made-for-daytime fireworks
Naturalization ceremony where people from across the world become U.S. citizens
Revolutionary War encampment

18th-century magic
And more!
Thank you for your support.
