Cheri Beasley is an American attorney and jurist who became the first African American woman to serve as chief justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court from 2019 to 2020, a court on which she has previously served as an Associate Justice since 2012. Beasley had previously served on the North Carolina Court of Appeals and as a district court judge in Cumberland County, North Carolina. Now, she is running for Senate in the upcoming 2022 elections!
