This is a coup. I’m not saying that lightly

Hello, it’s Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes.

Recently, I was asked by the Wall Street Journal if I thought Donald Trump was attempting a coup.

And I told them clearly – yes I do.

I don’t use that term lightly. I know it’s a serious allegation. But what else do you call it when someone willfully disobeys multiple federal court orders, and multiple judges?

What do you call it when a person takes power from Congress and hands it to an unelected billionaire bureaucrat in Elon Musk?

What do you call it when he wrecks the economy because he feels like it, and tries to take over elections because he can’t admit he lost a campaign.

Well, I’m calling it a coup. And I’m fighting back against it.

When Trump disobeys a court order I’ve won against him, I drag him back in court and force the ruling to take effect. I travel across Arizona and even to other states, to find ways to fight back.

I work with my Attorney General colleagues to protect our democracy, and I do it on your behalf.
