Longtime Major League pitcher Rich Hill was coaching his son’s Little League team earlier this year. The 44-year-old left-hander is now leading Team USA at the Premier12 tournament in Tokyo, playing alongside some players young enough to be, well, his son. “He has so much wisdom. He has so much knowledge,” one player said.

On top of otherworldly talent, Bobby Witt Jr. also has heart and hustle. The award is given annually to a player who “demonstrates a passion for the game of baseball and best embodies the values, spirit and traditions of the game.”

Powerhouse Japan won its first two games at the international Premier12 tournament in Tokyo, beating the United States and Venezuela, to lock up a spot in Sunday’s gold-medal game.

Since 1993, the Orioles’ Double-A affiliate had been named the Bowie Baysox. But with a widening fan base, it was time for a change. At a spiffy unveiling in Annapolis, Md., the team was rebranded as the Chesapeake Baysox.

The Braves and Reds will play in the MLB Speedway Classic at famed Bristol Motor Speedway on Aug. 2, 2025. Tickets to the general public go on sale Dec. 5 at 10 a.m. ET.
