Now that the Supreme Court is back in session, we have our eyes on some crucial cases. One of the most dangerous ones is Moore v. Harper, in which the Supreme Court is set to decide whether state legislatures have complete control over redrawing congressional maps and whether courts will continue to have the ability to strike down anti-democratic election laws.
The implications of this case are huge, Peter. The more conservative justices could vote in favor of a baseless legal doctrine and give state legislatures control – and if five justices vote that way, then it will become impossible for state courts to veto unfair partisan maps – and it’s possible this could even threaten the 2024 presidential election.
Some legal scholars have warned that the “independent state legislature doctrine” could help gerrymandered, Republican-controlled state legislatures award their presidential electors to their preferred candidate – not the one chosen by their state’s voters. Trump and his allies tried this scheme in 2020, and they’re coming back to try it again in 2024. We can’t let Trump and his anti-democracy allies win. Can we count on your support?

This is part of a decades-long conservative plan for the nation’s highest court to legislate from the bench and we can’t let them succeed. We need Democratic AGs in power to fight for fair maps in the courts and advocate for non-partisan districts that accurately reflect the makeup of each state. And we need your help to keep them in office.
Democratic AGs truly are “The People’s Lawyers” and DAGA is the only party committee devoted to electing more of them. Since 2016, we’ve won two-thirds of our targeted races, and with more than 30 AG seats up for grabs in 2022, we need your support – will you chip in today?
