From Arizona State University Office of the President
Dear Peter:
With the conclusion of another successful academic year, I am reminded of the profound impact of your support for the ASU President’s Club. Your generosity and commitment have been essential in enabling Arizona State University to innovate and find solutions to some of society’s most challenging problems.
It is more important than ever to share the impact of your support. As we navigate current challenges to higher education, we must all be able to articulate how ASU serves as an “invisible hand” that drives economic, technological and scientific progress, not just locally, but on a global scale.
This urgency underscores the importance of ASU’s Changing Futures campaign — a bold initiative designed to shape a future of opportunity and transformational possibilities for people and communities everywhere. Guided by the foundational narrative “Changing Futures, From Arizona. For the world,” the campaign aims to address society’s most complex challenges and leverage ASU’s proven record of innovation and global impact.
With your help, ASU can continue to lead in ways that truly matter. Here are some highlights of what your support has made possible.
Your generosity has advanced student-driven research on synthetic biologic drugs, which promises to make new medicines more affordable. The team leading this work, ASU’s International Genetically Engineered Machine team, will compete in the iGEM Foundation’s global competition, which has launched more than 300 new companies in its 30-year history. This achievement not only showcases our students’ ingenuity but also positions ASU at the forefront of medical innovation and building the future of health.
Communities with healthy local news outlets have a more informed, engaged electorate. Your support for NEWSWELL, a nonprofit that is part of ASU’s Media Enterprise, provides wraparound services to local newsrooms to help them build sustainable business models. This initiative ensures that local journalism can thrive, fostering a well-informed public and a stronger democracy.
You helped make careers in public service more accessible to military students. ASU’s School of Public Affairs will begin offering on-site graduate courses at Luke Air Force Base, one way the school supports the military community. This initiative not only enhances educational opportunities for service members but also enriches our public service sector, inspiring tomorrow’s game-changers with their unique perspectives and experiences.
The role of environmental journalists has never been more essential. Thanks in part to your support, the Society of Environmental Journalists convened in Tempe, where they connected with ASU students, faculty and staff working to sustain our planet. This convening catalyzed the kind of purposeful dialogue and collaboration essential to advancing environmental awareness and reshaping our relationship with the planet.
Your support for scholarships and study-abroad opportunities upholds ASU’s commitment to accessibility and opportunity. By enabling students from diverse backgrounds to pursue their academic dreams and transform the global education landscape, you help shape the leaders of tomorrow.
Thank you once again for your continued support. Your belief in ASU’s charter inspires us to strive for excellence and make a lasting impact on our local and global communities. I am deeply grateful for your ongoing partnership and dedication to our shared vision. Together we can continue to drive innovation, foster opportunity and create a brighter future for all.
Sincerely,
Michael M. Crow
