While we can’t show you the furtive brainstorming, exhaustive planning or meticulous coding that goes into the final product, we can provide a little look at the progression of the artwork from sketch to screen!The main inspiration for our Christmas village was the festive tradition of model villages, or “putz”. But when we came to sketch, draw and animate this ever-growing village scene, we wanted it to look as genuine as possible. We took further inspiration from all sorts of real towns and villages: Colmar in France, Rothenburg ob der Tauber in Germany and, a little closer to home, Lacock in the UK.The interior of the cosy cottage took inspiration from all sorts of festive outlets: our artists poured over interior magazines, Christmas films and even our past Advent Calendars.All the upholstery options were painstakingly painted by our wonderful artist Bev, who, before joining us, studied Textile Design at Loughborough College of Art and then worked for years designing furnishing fabrics – almost a full-circle moment!You can purchase your Christmas Village Advent Calendar as a treat for yourself or send it as a gift to your friends and family via our website – and they can use it on any compatible device.And if you’d like to learn more about what goes on behind the scenes, head to our Behind the Scenes page!
