BACKGROUND:
Château de Berne is a 1,500-acre private estate in rural Provence, just 25 miles from St. Tropez and near the village of Lorgues. With a history dating back to the 18th century, it’s a tranquil destination that blends relaxation with wine tourism. The estate features a 5-star hotel, spa, a gastronomic restaurant, a wine center, and various leisure activities across its stunning grounds. Château de Berne is renowned for its exceptional wines, including the iconic square bottle design. Their wines are highly regarded and critically acclaimed, embodying the essence of Provence’s Mediterranean terroir. The 2024 Romance Rosé is a perfect example, offering a light, fruity, and refreshing profile, crafted with the same care as their esteemed Côtes de Provence vintages.
Winemaker’s Notes
Sourced from limestone-rich soils of the Mediterranean basin, the grapes for this cuvée are harvested during the cool night hours to preserve their freshness. The winemaking process involves careful plot selection, precise grape blending, and bottling in a protected atmosphere to maintain the wine’s aromatic integrity.
The 2024 Romance Rosé presents a star-bright hue, reminiscent of ruby red grapefruit glistening under the sun. On the nose, it offers inviting aromatics dominated by ripe watermelon and sweet cherry blossoms. The palate is refreshing and expressive, capturing the vibrant fruitiness characteristic of the region.
THE TASTING PANEL SCORED THIS 92 POINTS SAYING:
“Fresh, full of energy, and bursting with wild strawberries, red cherries, and watermelon, this blend of Grenache Noir, Cinsault, Syrah, and Merlot is dangerously easy to drink, both on its own and alongside a wide range of dishes, notably seafood and simple pastas.”
