SRP is refusing to give up on its plans to expand its Coolidge Generating Station. The Arizona Corporation Commission has twice denied the company’s request due to concerns raised by residents. Now the company is asking a judge to intervene in the matter.
Also, in one day, the city of Maricopa got a new council member and a new fire chief. The city named Brad Pitassi as the new fire chief. Pitassi has been serving as the interim chief since Chief Brady Leffler retired in March. The Maricopa City Council chose Eric Goettl to fill the council seat that was vacated when Nancy Smith became mayor in August. Goettl was one of 19 candidates who filed to be appointed to the seat.
