Senate Education: Reduce the Achievement Gap

Peter,
Wednesday, the Senate Education Committee will hear HB 2423, the bill to create an automatic enrollment process for middle school students to take algebra by the time they reach 8th grade. As I told the House Education Committee, talent is everywhere, opportunity is not.
Senate Education Committee: Reduce the Achievement Gap
Take me for example. I didn’t even know these opportunities existed until a high school teacher encouraged me to take honors courses and AP Statistics and told me that I likely should have been placed in advanced classes earlier, including in middle school. That one decision changed my trajectory.
This bill is about making sure that opportunity exists everywhere. That students have the opportunity to take advanced math classes to help them take algebra by the time they reach high school.
But the members of the committee need to hear RIGHT NOW that you support this policy. Please take action now to ask your legislators to support automatic enrollment in algebra and reduce the achievement gap!
Standing with you,
