When Nebel showed up one rainy night on a Good Samaritan’s doorstep — muddy, unsteady and unable to walk — his future was uncertain. However, thanks to the swift response of our Community Outreach team and the unwavering generosity of Pet Sponsorship Program supporters, Nebel’s life has taken a hopeful turn.

After arriving at our Pet Health Centers, Nebel was diagnosed with spinal neuropathy, a condition that left his back legs paralyzed and causes incontinence challenges. His care has been complex, requiring three daily medications and ongoing monitoring, but if you ask anyone who’s met him, Nebel isn’t defined by what he can’t do, he’s known for what he can.

When you become a Pet Sponsor, you provide essential funding for lifesaving surgeries and ongoing medical treatment for animals with special needs. Your support ensures that dogs and cats who might otherwise be overlooked due to the costs of their care receive the treatment they require — and, most importantly, the chance to be adopted into loving homes where they can thrive.

While Nebel still hopes for a forever or foster home one day, in the meantime he is adored by staff, volunteers and everyone who has the privilege of knowing him. He reminds us that resilience comes in many forms and that every animal deserves a chance to thrive.
