Peter, will you be 1 of the 100?
Discover the true meaning behind your Cathedral’s official name

Support unity every day:
Become a Cathedral Sustainer!
Dear Peter,
You may not often hear the Cathedral called by its full and official name: the Cathedral Church of St. Peter and St. Paul. I want to remind you of that name today for a very intentional reason.
Peter and Paul are the patrons of this Cathedral not because they were flawless heroes of the faith, but because they were faithful witnesses to the gospel. Each was profoundly devoted to Christ, and their writings and witness form the foundation on which our faith rests.
At the same time, the New Testament is clear that Peter and Paul did not always see eye to eye. They came from different backgrounds, had different callings, and at times held sharply different convictions about how the gospel should be lived out in a divided world. Scripture does not hide their disagreements. Instead, it bears witness to a Church that wrestled openly, argued honestly and sought, sometimes imperfectly, to remain faithful to Christ together.
What ultimately unites Peter and Paul is their shared commitment to the reconciling work of God made known in Jesus Christ. Our Cathedral bears their names because reconciliation is not an abstract ideal here; it is a calling. As we honor Black History Month and reckon with the divisions that continue to wound our nation, Peter and Paul remind us that unity is hard-won, truth-telling work, work that requires courage, humility, perseverance and grace.
But we cannot do this important work alone. To meet the challenges and opportunities ahead this year, we’re seeking 100 people who will step forward by February 28 to join our community of Cathedral Sustainers, faithful supporters who give monthly. Could you be one of them?
The reliable support of our Cathedral Sustainers is critical because we receive no funding from the federal government or any national church body. Our dedicated Sustainers provide the consistency that allows us to plan and budget confidently for our mission and ministries.I’LL GIVE MONTHLY
Monthly giving is a simple way to support your favorite Cathedral programs. As a Cathedral Sustainer, you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing you’re helping us share hope and the message of unity with hundreds of thousands of people through worship services, world-class music and relevant, enriching programs. Give at any level that feels right for you, whether it’s $10 or $1,000. Any amount adds up quickly to increase your lasting impact.
I hope you’ll give this your careful consideration. And whether or not you choose to become a Cathedral Sustainer, thank you for being a part of our Cathedral community.
In Faith,
The Very Rev. Randy Hollerith
