| View this email in your browserThere was a moment during our four-day Daddy Daughter Weekend that I’ll remember for the rest of my life. Reagan and I were sitting in a little food court at a local mall, just enjoying lunch together, when she picked up her water bottle and began bottle flipping. And then it happened. She landed it—twice. The look on her face… pure, unfiltered, unstoppable joy. Not happiness. Joy. The kind that bubbles up from deep inside. The kind you don’t manufacture, earn, or chase. The kind that simply appears when you’re fully present with someone you love. Watching her celebrate those flips warmed my soul more than I can possibly explain. It reminded me of something I too often forget: joy isn’t found in productivity, performance, or accomplishment. That’s where the world tells us to look. But sometimes real joy comes from sitting at a mall food court, cheering on an eight-year-old who refuses to give up until she sticks the landing. Happiness is momentary. Joy is eternal. Happiness happens to you. Joy grows within you. Happiness fades. Joy sustains. And I never want to lose sight of that again. I need these reminders—especially when life gets heavy and I’m tempted to measure meaning by output instead of moments. I pray the same for you: that God opens your eyes to the simple pleasures around you, the ones that reveal His goodness in ways big achievements never could. As Psalm 16:11 reminds us: “In Your presence there is fullness of joy.” May we never become too busy, too stressed, or too grown-up to celebrate a bottle flip. Joy is closer than you think—if you’re willing to look in the small places.
