Be Careful When You Tell God ‘Send Me’ — He Just Might Take You Seriously

Be very careful when you tell God, “Send me.” That isn’t poetic language or spiritual flair—it’s a declaration of war against comfort, control, and self-preservation. Too many Christians love the idea of being used by God, but they panic when He actually starts rearranging their lives. 

When you say “send me,” you’re asking God to interrupt your plans, dismantle your preferences, and place you where obedience will cost you something. God does not recruit spectators. He deploys servants. And He doesn’t send the willing into safe, predictable environments. He sends them into tension, resistance, spiritual warfare, and places where faith has to function without applause or affirmation.

Scripture makes this unmistakably clear: “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’” (Isaiah 6:8). Isaiah’s calling came after he was undone, exposed, and purified, not before. God takes that prayer seriously. He still does. When you ask to be sent, don’t be shocked when God sends you into discomfort, isolation, rejection, or obscurity. 

Don’t be surprised when doors you liked close and paths you never wanted open. This episode confronts a dangerous truth: praying “send me” without counting the cost is spiritual arrogance. God is faithful, but He is not tame. Crisis is not chaos. It’s communication. It’s the moment God turns up the volume because whispering clearly wasn’t working. The Bible says it plainly: “God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: it is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world” (Job 33:14–15). Crisis is not punishment. It’s mercy disguised as disruption. It’s the sacred moment when God refuses to let you keep walking toward destruction in peace.
