How Pima County Animal Care Center Doubled Their Reunions with Help from Petco Love Lost
We’ve got a great case study to share that we know will inspire you! In the past year, Pima County Animal Care Center (PACC) made some big changes in the hope of reuniting more pets.
They did two things: 1) they decided to use Petco Love Lost for all lost and found reports filed by the public, and 2) they created opportunities for the community to help lost and found pets.
The results?
Animals Stayed out of the Shelter and RTO Rates Nearly Doubled
PACC gave pet finders the option to keep pets in their care for any length of time and made sure all members of the community reported lost and found pets directly to Petco Love Lost. By combining the two initiatives, PACC was able to reduce the number of animals coming into their care and nearly double their community’s RTO rate from 16% to 29%.
More Time Available to Provide Care for Animals
By encouraging the community to use Petco Love Lost to file all lost and found reports, PACC’s staff was able to dedicate more time tending to the animals in their care, and less time working to reunite pets. With the help of Petco Love Lost, PACC saw an 80% reduction in time staff spent manually fielding calls about lost and found pets.
We’d love to help you do the same. Email lost@petcolove.org and we’ll get you started!
Are we making progress? Take the 2024 DEI Survey by April 21st.
It’s been three years since The Association’s DEI Committee launched the first-of-its-kind survey in 2021. Since then, you’ve trained, raised awareness, and worked the plans to increase DEI in your orgs and communities. It’s time to ask—how is the field doing? The goal is to receive 5,200 responses, and we’re counting on you!
Once you’re done, share it with your colleagues. We want all members of all teams to participate.
Set Every Adopter Up For Success
Thank you for all the great work you do to save pet lives. We are thankful for your commitment to the pets in your care.
As a Petco Love partner, we’re excited to help make every pet adoption a forever one and set new pet parents up for success with the Adoption Support Benefit flyer (ASB). The ASB, which can be printed or shared digitally and redeemed online or in stores, provides a discount on purchases for new adopters (thanks to our sponsor Petco) and shares information on Vital Care Premier, a membership program designed to make sure pets get ongoing vet care, whether at a Petco pet care center or any other vet location.
The ASB also encourages adopters to sign up for Petco Love Lost in case their pet ever goes missing. Let’s help adopters understand how best to care for pets and live their best life together.
IMPORTANT: Please discard and remove the 2023 ASB from circulation as it can no longer be redeemed.
BOBS® Bestie of the Month
PAW-ETRY IN MOTION
Ollie (Olivier, if you’re fancy 😉) was adopted by Zach in December of 2020 from NY Animal Rescue. Zach had developed quite a soft spot for older dogs through the years, so he and Ollie were on a mission to show everyone how adopting a senior snuggler could be incredibly rewarding.
Together, they’ve traveled coast to coast – sharing sidewalk brunches, couch cuddles, and poetic social media posts. You may find Ollie penning his latest prose on a Maine beach, or likelier still, eyeing Zach’s plate in Brooklyn – waiting for a sneaky bite. 😋
“Senior dogs are a special lot, and Ollie exemplifies the spirit, affection, and easy transition that comes from making the choice to welcome an older or adult pet into your life,” Zach shares. ❤️
This waggy-tailed wordsmith proudly holds the title of March’s BOBS® Bestie of the Month. Follow us on Instagram to learn more about Ollie, our partnership with BOBS® from Skechers®, and more! 🐾👟
