Hi Peter,
I have some INCREDIBLE NEWS that ParentsTogether members helped make happen! The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA), which will make sure employers have to provide reasonable accommodations for pregnant and postpartum workers, IS NOW LAW! And that’s not all – at the same time, Congress also passed the PUMP Act, which will ensure that all workers have the space, time, and privacy to pump at work.
It’s a huge victory for working parents everywhere. No working parent should choose between their health, their baby, or their job – and now we’ll finally have the protections we’ve long deserved.

Victory was not a sure thing. For months, our community, alongside other organizations and allies, have been calling on Senate Majority Leader Schumer to bring the PWFA to a vote. Thousands of us signed petitions, sent emails, made phone calls, attended advocacy meetings, rallied at the Capitol, shared our stories, and even showed up in Senator Schumer’s lobby (see the photo above!)!
Then, in the final hours, both bills were added to the big budget Congress was racing to pass before the end of the year. And they passed with bipartisan support!
It’s a great reminder as this year comes to a close to never give up – and of just how powerful we are, together. There’s lots to keep fighting for next year, but for now, let’s celebrate this victory.
Sending so much gratitude to you and our whole community!
