On May 24, 2022, our country mourned the profound loss of 19 elementary school students and two educators as we learned of the senseless shooting at Robb Elementary in Uvalde. As a former elementary school social worker, concerned American, and Senator with strong relationships on both sides of the aisle – I got right to work bringing colleagues together to find solutions.

Senators Murphy, Cornyn, Tillis, and myself – each representing diverse states with varying views – came together to find lasting, commonsense solutions. We shut out noise from the extremes, refused to demonize each other, and stayed focused on achieving our shared goal of saving lives.
As a social worker in Arizona, I learned how to get people in a room and work through their conflicts. Building consensus and finding common ground is difficult – and our law proves it’s always worth it.
Arizonans can continue counting on me to do the hard work and solve the issues that matter most to you and your families.
Sincerely,
Kyrsten Sinema
