Drawing Room Chamber Concert – Oakwood Brass
Tuesday, October 28, 7:30 PM FREE & Open to the Public | Doors open at 6:30 PM
The Troy-Hayner Cultural Center is thrilled to kick off the 2025–2026 Drawing Room Chamber Concert series with Oakwood Brass, led by trumpeter Eric Knorr, the Hayner’s newly appointed Music Coordinator. This extraordinary ensemble features top brass performers from across Ohio, who regularly perform with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Pops, Dayton Philharmonic, Columbus Symphony, and more. Many members are also prominent educators at the University of Dayton, University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Wright State University, Capital University, and Cedarville University.
This special concert program honors America’s rich musical heritage, featuring:
George Gershwin – Strike Up the Band
A medley of George M. Cohan classics, including Give My Regards to Broadway and You’re a Grand Old Flag
John Philip Sousa – Semper Fidelis
American folk favorite Shenandoah
Ragtime & jazz gems – Scott Joplin’s Maple Leaf Rag and Duke Ellington’s It Don’t Mean a Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing)
Audience participation with Bohemian Rhapsody and patriotic favorites
Grand finale with America the Beautiful and Sousa’s Stars and Stripes Forever
As a USAF bandsman, Eric Knorr will share stories from his deployment and bring a personal touch to this patriotic celebration. Seating is limited, so plan to arrive early for the best view of this unforgettable performance!
The Wizard of Oz – Film Series Thursday, October 3, 7:00 PM
Join us for a classic movie night at the Troy-Hayner Cultural Center! Our family-friendly film series screens beloved titles in the historic Hayner ballroom. Popcorn and soda provided, and admission is free. This is a perfect outing for all ages.

Boo Bash 2025

Saddle up for a rootin’ tootin’ good time at Boo Bash 2025! The Troy-Hayner Cultural Center invites families to join us on Saturday, October 25 from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM for a free, family-friendly Halloween celebration with a western twist.
Kids can enjoy:
Themed games designed just for fun-loving cowboys and cowgirls
Hands-on crafts to spark creativity
Festive photo ops throughout the mansion
All activities indoors which means it’s comfy, no matter the weather!
Come dressed in your favorite costume whether it’s cowboy boots, princess gowns, superheroes, or anything that makes you smile. Thanks to the generous support of Friends of Hayner and Scott Family McDonald’s, families can look forward to extra-special surprises for the kids.
Boo Bash is a cherished Hayner tradition that perfectly pairs with Troy Main Street’s Hometown Halloween. Families can kick off the morning downtown (9:00 AM – Noon) with a costume contest, trick-or-treating, and community fun, then mosey over to the Hayner for an afternoon of more Halloween adventures.
This year’s Boo Bash promises to be a full day of fall fun you won’t want to miss!
Brushstrokes of Brilliance – Watercolors by Local & Regional Artists Through Sunday, October 5
Last chance to experience this vibrant exhibit! Showcasing the talent of local and regional artists, Brushstrokes of Brilliance offers family-friendly gallery space and free admission. Join us for The Static Between Us, a fine art exhibit featuring the award-winning colored pencil drawings of John Middick. This highly anticipated show explores Middick’s masterful use of color and line to capture emotion and narrative in everyday life.
The opening reception on October 10 is free and open to the public, providing a wonderful opportunity to meet the artist, enjoy refreshments, and learn more about his creative process.
Class Connection: Don’t miss Middick’s Portrait Workshop on November 1, where participants can explore techniques in drawing and portraiture under his guidance.
Beginning Knitting: Hat and Cowl with Emily Kasper Age: 10 & up Monday, October 6, 13 & 20 6:00 – 8:00 PM Fee: $65 per person (3-week class) Learn the basics of knitting as you create a cozy hat and cowl. Materials provided, beginner-friendly, hands-on, and requires registration. Multi-week class.
Online Genealogy: Beyond Ancestry.com with Barbara Moore Age: Adult Tuesday, October 7, 6:00 – 8:30 PM Fee: $25 per person (3-week class) Start tracing your family history with Barbara’s expert guidance using online tools and resources. Learn about specialized websites that help you find information based on specific geographic locations, ethnic backgrounds, occupations, and more.
Black Cat at Night with a Full Moon — Kelly Rank Age: 6 & up Wednesday, October 15, 4:00 – 6:00 pm Fee: $20 (per 2-hour class) Kids will create a magical Halloween painting featuring a black cat and glowing moon. Using acrylics in bold fall colors and paint pens for detail, each student will take home their own spooky masterpiece.
Advancing in Watercolor — Shirley DeLaet Age: Adult Thursdays, 6:00 – 8:45 pm Session 2: Oct. 23, Nov. 6, 20, Dec. 4 & 18 Fee: $105 This class is designed for students with prior watercolor experience who are ready to deepen their skills. Work on advanced techniques, color theory, and personal projects with expert guidance.
Beginner Rumba — Ronnie & Cindy Mullins Age: 15 – Adult Wednesdays, 7:30 – 8:15 pm October 22, 29 & November 5 Fee: $30 per person (3-week class)
Going to a Wedding? Learn Rumba! Rumba is a Latin dance style that is known for its hip development.
Intermediate East Coast Swing: Make It Date Night! — Ronnie & Cindy Mullins Age: Jr. High – Adult Wednesdays, 8:15 – 9:00 pm October 22, 29 & November 5 Fee: $30 per person (3-week class)
Get ready for the dance, cruise or any dance party! This class will review the easy swing patterns and add to your knowledge of the East Coast Swing to keep it fun and have you dancing all night long.
