With the Minor League season winding down, this is the last time this year MLB Pipeline will be looking at the hottest hitting prospects in the Minors.
All year, we’ve been picking the hottest hitter for each organization over the preceding month. While there was no one quite as consistent as a hitter as Andrew Painter was on the pitching side, there are a number of hitters who became regulars in this monthly feature. With this list, four new players are welcomed to the three-peat club in 2022, joining three others in that exclusive circle.
While some of these hitters are getting the chance to keep the good times rolling in the Double-A playoffs or the end of the Triple-A season, there are seven who hope to bring their hot bats with them to the Arizona Fall League next month.
Texas third baseman Josh Jung had one thought when he fielded a grounder a few feet from the bag with no outs and two men on: “‘Get rid of it. Get it out of my hands, and if it happens, it happens.’”
Michael Kessler made a last-minute decision to attend Tuesday’s game at Yankee Stadium, hoping to witness Aaron Judge’s 60th home run. It was undoubtedly the best subway ride of his life so far.
Albert Pujols has already heard the pleas that he should play beyond 2022 and continue cranking out as many home runs as possible, but he’s not wavering in his decision to retire.
Maury Wills, the first player in the Modern Era to steal 100 bases in a season and whose daring thievery on the basepaths revolutionized baseball, died on Monday night. He was 89.
