My daughter, Gabby
Hi Jane,
My name is Gloria Giffords. I’m Gabby Giffords’s mom. I stand in awe of my daughter.
I know every mom will tell you her child is perfect, but Gabby is just about as close as it comes.
Growing up, she was always a good kid. She was a loyal friend. And to know Gabby Giffords is to know one thing: Don’t ever — not for one moment — underestimate her.
If she thought she could do something, she put her mind to it until it was done. And to anyone who thought she wasn’t capable of something…well, she quickly proved them wrong.
Our nation has seen what Gabby is capable of since that awful morning in January 2011. It’s been a long road to recovery, but she keeps fighting — not only for herself, but for families all across our country.
She inspires me every day, and I know I’m not alone.
There’s a reason why I’m reaching out, Jane: Gabby’s birthday is this Sunday, and I wanted to surprise her.
Growing up, Gabby never asked for anything extravagant (unless you count that one time she wanted a horse). But I know that, more than anything, she wants to make the world safer from gun violence.
And I know she won’t stop fighting until we can achieve that. Together, this movement can help Gabby continue fighting for a safer future.
