Journey south with Women’s Hoops

After a massive rivalry win on home turf against that team down south, Coach Molly Miller and Sun Devil Women’s Basketball will head to Tucson on Saturday, Feb. 14.

Re-writing Sun Devil history

For decades, the history books of Sun Devil Women’s Basketball celebrated Ryneldi Becenti’s 1992 triple-double as a pioneering moment in program history, but a remarkable piece of Sun Devil lore has been hiding in plain sight. Thanks to the keen eye and pride of alumna Robin Butler (formerly Connolly), Sun Devil Athletics has officially corrected the record to recognize that Butler truly recorded the first triple-double in program history back in 1987 against Washington.

Butler’s achievement, rediscovered more than 35 years later, is not just a statistical footnote. It is a story of legacy, perseverance, and the deep roots of excellence that have defined Sun Devil Women’s Basketball since its earliest days. From her early years in Cottonwood, Arizona, to her time in Tempe and beyond, Butler’s journey embodies the spirit of a program built on passion and performance.Read the full story
