In January, the Senate sidelined federal voting rights legislation that would have addressed state voter suppression laws that purposefully target people of color, people with disabilities, and poor people. Since then, states have continued to introduce and pass laws that make it harder for people to vote. No matter where you live, you can help in the fight to get voters to the polls and to repeal these shameful laws.
I will discuss the work we do at the Center for Common Ground and talk about how you can help combat suppressive voting laws while equipping voters with the information they need to surmount the barriers placed in their way! I will also talk about examples of good state legislation that protect the right to vote.
I also invite you to join us next Tuesday, June 16th at 5pm PT/8pm ET for a discussion with Florida State Senator Shevrin Jones, founder of Operation BlackOut which works hand in hand with dozens of partners across the state to increase voter turnout among Black and brown voters through vote-by-mail. RSVP HERE.
