Happy New Year! This will be a major year for elections, and in the face of ongoing attacks on our freedom to vote since January 6, 2021, we have learned that voting by itself is not enough. That is why this year, we will roll out a new program to hold the people we elect accountable for the votes they make as our elected representatives.
Led by myself and Workers Circle Director of Social Justice, Noelle Damico, the hour-long training will cover what it means to be a citizen advocate by engaging your members of Congress from your hometown, how to deliver letters and set up meetings with members of Congress, and actions you can take to protect democracy. No experience is necessary — all are welcome!
Our event on January 11 will kick us off for monthly trainings on legislative organizing. Each training will focus on different democracy legislation. This month, we will discuss the newly re-introduced John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.
