How many more children will have to live this…
Jane,
Yesterday morning, our country suffered an all-too-common tragedy when a gunman opened fire at Annunciation Church in Minneapolis, home to a pre-K-8 school.
Students were packed into the pews for mass when the gunman — who was armed with a rifle, a shotgun, and a pistol — fired deliberately at the church. Current reports are that two children were killed and approximately 20 others were injured.
The first week of school is supposed to be filled with joy and making new friends. Instead, innocent kids were forced to hide for their lives from bullets and left traumatized. And now, some families are left with an empty seat at their dinner table forever.
I am heartbroken and furious. How many more children will have to live this nightmare before our elected leaders do something?
Gun violence is a crisis in our country, and we must do more than offer just thoughts and prayers. These children were literally shot in a church while praying — at the hands of weapons designed to kill as many people as possible.
We owe it to all the victims and survivors to demand change, end this crisis, and build a future where we can all be safe. That is my mission, and the mission of GIFFORDS. We will keep working until it becomes a reality.
Please keep Minnesota and the Minneapolis community in your thoughts.
Thank you,
Gabby Giffords
Please, take a second to read this…
Gabby Giffords has led the fight against the gun lobby for more than a decade, but she can’t do it alone.
If everyone reading this donated just $17, we’d have the resources to take on the gun lobby in Congress and states across the country. But not everyone gives — making it even more important for people who care and understand the stakes of our struggle to pitch in what they can.
If $17 seems worth it to you to change our gun laws in order to make our communities safer from gun violence, we’re asking you to contribute to GIFFORDS PAC today.
