We are excited to announce that Hayner Original 6 Year Rye Whiskey will be released on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at noon.
Hayner Original Rye is the first offering in our Vintage Series. The Vintage Series features antique Hayner whiskey labels from 1866-1920. This year’s label is a recreation of a label used by Hayner Distilling in 1910. In 1910, Hayner Distilling was shipping this bottle to doorsteps all across the country.
To create Hayner Original Rye, we took the best 6 year barrels from our first rye blend, and bottled them straight at 90 proof. That first Hayner Rye blend recently won a Double Gold medal, the highest award possible, at the prestigious John Barleycorn Spirits Competition in New York. We know Hayner Original 6 Year Rye will soon win its own awards.
Hayner Original Rye bottles are hand numbered and the first 1,000 will go on sale Saturday, January 29 at noon at 619 Lincoln Ave in Troy. Bottle number 1 will be donated to the Hayner Whiskey Museum at the Hayner-Cultural Center but all other bottles will be sold in numerical order on Saturday, January 29 starting at noon.
Hayner Bourbon sales have been tremendous and Batch 01 will likely be sold out this summer. Batch 01 was awarded Gold and Silver medals in two competitions. It is now available in over 30 State Liquor Stores.
The night before Hayner Rye was released in October, a bottle was left on the steps of the mausoleum of William Hayner, who is featured on the whiskey label. The bottle remained on the steps for a week and was eventually placed within the tomb by cemetery staff. We have no doubt William has enjoyed a few late night pours.
Hayner Walking Tour
This spring, The Museum of Troy History will present the history of Hayner Distilling with a walking tour of Hayner Distilling historic sites in Troy. The event will conclude with a tasting of Hayner Whiskey in an historic Hayner building. Stay tuned for more details on this exciting event!
