Make Your Easter Wishes Rock!

During an Easter brainstorming session, someone on our creative team suggested creating a parody of the 1980s hit song, Legs, and repurposing it to be about Eggs instead. Visually we tried to incorporate some features of the band members into our characters as well, like the beards, hats and sunglasses. Our brainstorming helped us figure out ideas that would not only be fun, but also unique. We really thrive with this type of collaboration, where we all build upon ideas together. The animatic we created had a lot of energy in the egg characters despite limited movement,
which helped inspire the final animation. Capturing and accentuating the bouncy and fun drawings from the animatic into the final movements of the eggs was a priority. Of course, the original music video also aided in inspiration as well, especially for the characters' dances. The song created by the audio team was our starting point: the lyrics inspired what we illustrated in the storyboards, which then helped us time everything out in the animatic. At this stage, both the audio and visuals were important building blocks in making the final art and animation. Once the animatic and audio were finalized, we created the final art assets with a mixture of drawings and photos. The final
character and background designs then needed to be animated. The animatic provided an outline for how each scene would move in full animation, and the music helped figure out the rhythm that would animate the characters as they bopped up and down in tune to the song. Three of us collaborated the most: one from the audio team and two from the creative team. Our programmer put everything together in our new Impossible software and help came from other talented individuals along the way. Conceptually, we brainstormed the idea in late 2022, but once we started full production, it took about 4-5 weeks to complete. The first few weeks were spent getting the song recorded, the animatic finished
and art assets created. When it was time to get the animation done, we needed to do everything in about a week so we could get it to our programmers on time. All in all, this was a very collaborative project requiring communication from several different teams and departments, who did an awesome job getting this card made! The result is an incredibly fun, polished and unique SmashUp we hope your friends and family will love.
