Trade watch: How fantasy values could shift if these players are dealt
The NFL trade deadline is on Nov. 4, and Adam Schefter is reporting that it could be an active trade market, compiling a long list of players who could be on their NFL team’s trading block.
So how can fantasy managers take advantage and stay ahead of their leaguemates? As Tristan H. Cockcroft touches on players such as Alvin Kamara and Breece Hall identifying both the fantasy dream destinations for the most likely trade targets, and predicting which players benefit from being next man up on the teams that trade talent away.
Just as important as looking ahead, though, is focusing on putting together the best lineup for this week. Don’t miss Mike Clay’s Week 7 Playbook for lineup locks, the Shadow Report, projected scores and player-by-player matchup quality assessments.
He’s a more prominent part of the Chargers’ offense this season than last, attempting a pass on 57% of his snaps played. Herbert will be plenty involved in a game projected to be among the week’s highest scoring, against a Colts defense that has struggled to contain upper-tier quarterbacks in previous weeks.
Judkins has been surprisingly productive for a player whose team has run 77% of its offensive plays while trailing. For the first time this season, the Browns are favored, meaning an expansive opportunity against a Dolphins defense that has surrendered a 20-point performance to running backs in four of the past five weeks.
In six games, the Cowboys have seen seven wideouts score 15-plus fantasy points against them, and three score 25-plus. Additionally, in three games, the Cowboys surrendered a double-digit fantasy score to two receivers, which will be important in Samuel’s example if Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) is able to return.
Matchups have been the way to go at the tight end position so far, and Taylor has one of this week’s best. The Panthers have afforded tight ends a league-most 2.45 fantasy points per target, and they’re the only team to have seen an individual tight end score at least 7.9 points against them in each of their games.
Bryce Young’s early-season struggles have held back McMillan from a breakthrough, though his usage and red zone target rates show promise. This is one of his tougher matchups, as the Jets have seen a low number of pass attempts against and have allowed only two opposing receivers to score 15 fantasy points.
Vidal stepped up for the Chargers after Omarion Hampton and Najee Harris went down because of injuries. Vidal had the majority of the backfield work, getting 21 carries to Hassan Haskins’ seven. Vidal picked up 138 yards on the ground, and added three catches for 14 yards and a touchdown in Week 6. The Chargers face the Colts on Sunday.
Justin Fields New York Jets
Fields has three games with 25 or more fantasy points this season, but two others with five or less. One of those was last week, when he completed nine passes for 45 yards with no touchdown passes, and added just 31 yards on the ground. Worst of all were the nine sacks he endured. Fields looks to get back on track against Carolina this week.
