We see abuse and mistreatment of innocent animals every day – but this is especially heinous.
Tomorrow, the Yulin Dog Meat Festival will begin in Yulin, Guangxi, China, when literally thousands of dogs and puppies will be stolen from their homes or picked up on the streets… then killed, cooked and eaten.
China’s Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Affairs has recognized that dogs are companions and declared an end to the consumption of dog meat. And South Korea and other countries have introduced sweeping bans against eating and selling dog meat. We won’t stop until every dog is kept off the table – are you with us?
Polls show that most people in China do not eat dog meat, and nearly 70 percent have never tried it. Local opposition to the dog meat industry is growing – and we need to keep fighting.
Even though the Yulin Dog Meat Festival is one of the most popular events of its kind, events centering on animal cruelty take place all over the world. It’s up to animal lovers like us to end them all. When we say we have a no-kill promise, it isn’t just about the dogs, cats, puppies and kittens in our care… it’s about animals everywhere.
84 cents of every dollar spent goes directlyto animal program services.
