Leah’s Second Chance: Overcoming a Medical Mystery

Leah, a sweet and shy hound-mix puppy, has faced much adversity in her short life, but now she has a team of supporters who won’t ever give up on her. Malnourished, with bones protruding from her tiny frame when she first arrived, Leah could not keep any food down. And while our Pet Health Centers team began an exhaustive search for answers, Leah found comfort and strength in another four-legged friend.

The Spirit of December

For me, no month summons up more memories and emotions than December. It’s such a resonant season, whether you celebrate Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa, or Winter Solstice. December is the time when many of us look back on the past 12 months and forward to what’s next. So, in that spirit, I’m taking a look at 2023 to share just a few of the moments that will stay in my memory forever.

Blondie was still a puppy when she was abandoned by her family, suffering from a painful hip injury that was left untreated. All that changed when she arrived at North Shore Animal League America and got the compassionate care she needed to live a pain-free life in a loving home. Every dog, cat, puppy, and kitten should have the same shot at a new beginning. This holiday season you can make a difference for homeless animals waiting for their second chance.
